Our smiths stack 15N20 and 1080 into a billet, forge-weld the layers at heat, and work the steel until the BoneFire figure appears. An acid etch darkens the 1080 and leaves the nickel-bearing 15N20 bright, producing the contrast you see.

The resin handle is cast as a solid block, cured, and then shaped down to the tang by hand. Because the blue and white marbling runs through the whole block rather than sitting on the surface, every cut into the contour exposes a different arrangement. No two handles come out matching.

Handle work happens after the blade is heat-treated. The scales are fitted, pinned, and sanded through progressive grits until the transition under your palm disappears.

Blade Performance

1080 carries roughly 0.80 percent carbon. Bladesmiths have used it for generations because it hardens predictably and takes shock without chipping. In a dense country where you cannot always see what your edge is about to meet, that toughness has real value.
15N20 contributes nickel and a finer grain structure, which refines the edge and keeps the steel bright through etching. Together they cut cleanly and come back sharp on a stone in minutes.

That field sharpening behaviour is the practical case for carbon steel in humid environments. You will be maintaining this blade more often than you would in a dry climate, and carbon steel responds to a simple stone.

The compact 3.5 -inch blade with its curved belly favours control over reach. It skins, carves, and prepares food with precision, and the short length means less blade exposed to moisture between uses.

Handle and Grip

Resin is the reason this knife suits jungle work. Wood swells and shrinks with humidity, and horn can check and crack when it moves between soaking wet and bone dry. Resin does neither. It does not absorb water or blood, does not rot, and needs no oiling at all.
At 3.5 inches, the handle matches the blade, putting the balance point at your grip so the knife turns where you steer it.

The polished surface stays secure in a wet hand better than a smooth wooden handle would, because resin does not become slick the way oiled wood can when it is saturated.

The 5 mm scale thickness gives you enough width to hold comfortably without adding bulk to a knife meant to be carried all day.

Sheath and Carry

A buffalo skin leather sheath is included. Buffalo hide is thicker and denser than common cowhide, which matters in humid countries where thin leather softens and loses its shape quickly.

The sheath covers the edge fully, and the compact size means it carries all day without noticeable weight. Take the knife out of the leather for storage. In humid conditions, this matters more than anywhere else, because damp leather against carbon steel will start rusting within days rather than months.

Knife Care

Humidity is the main threat to this knife, more than any cutting task. Wipe the blade clean after every use and dry it fully, and do not leave it in the sheath overnight in a damp camp.

Apply a thin coat of mineral oil or blade oil before storage. The resin handle needs only warm water and mild soap. Sharpen on a whetstone when the edge stops biting, and avoid powered grinders, which build heat that softens the temper. A gray patina will form in humid conditions faster than in dry ones, and it is normal, offering some protection against further rust.
